Onions Organizing |
![]() How to cut without crying: If
you
need to cut an onion
the inevitable will occur: Slice the onion and suddenly your eyes water
and sting and you are crying as if someone flipped a switch and glued
it that way.
OrganizingThere are a few things that you can do to either stop the tears completely or bring them to a minimum. First: Don’t cut the end where the roots are located until you have no choice. In other words cut the onion in half from the middle first. Second: Place the onion in cold water after cutting and your eyes will remain dry. Fill two containers with ice water. Put one half of the onion in one container and cut the other half as needed either into rings or chop. Place the cut portion into the second container of ice water and then cut the remaining half. This should prevent tears. Getting rid of the smell: You can simply rub your hands across your stainless steel sink or water faucets or you can use any stainless steal pot that you may have. Another good choice is to use coffee grounds by placing a small amount into your palm and then rubbing gently. Remove with regular soap. Not only does this remove the smell but also exfoliates the skin and leaves you with softer hands! Organizing
your
clothing, linens, books or possessions in general will help when you
need an item and don’t have the time to search for anything. There
truly isn’t the most perfect way to organize except in the perspective
that your things should be arranged in the manner that satisfies your
needs.
If you have a closet with shelves near the bathroom and bedroom use it to store towels, sheets, and other linens you need from time to time. If there is no space in the bathroom you can devote one shelf to soaps, shampoos, and other personal care products. In the kitchen, utilize the cabinet and drawer space for storing dishes, cooking utensils and food. Arrange these items so that preparing meals or baking is more efficient for you. A good arrangement may be that pots, pans and baking equipment is best stored near the stove while dishes, glassware, etcetera is easier to use when near the sink or dishwasher. Usually it is handier when getting dressed to have your clothes stored in dresser drawers and a closet in your bedroom. Specific drawers can be set up to hold underwear, or jewelry, or socks, or other clothing that doesn’t need to be hung. Clothing that needs to be hung should be stored in the closet and can be separated by hanging like things together and even by color. You can hang all shirts or blouses in one area according to color if you prefer; all pants together, dresses, suits and so on. (also see Filing; Storage) |
