![]() Green
cleaners are NOT generally green as in color, but as in what's better
for you and your environment. Especially the planet on which
we
live. Many are made from 'natural' or organic ingredients
that
are disposed of easily with fewer debilitating results to our planet,
our environment.
There are generally less human problems when using them as well. Such as minor skin irritations, easier breathing and easier safer handling just to name a few. (see Natural Cleaners) Grief
Dealing With Tragedy: You are not a wimp nor a failure...not even a disappointment, or any other negative adjective you may think of if you seek counseling to deal with tragedy or any other issue that bothers you and you can not sort out for yourself. The fact that you think it is disturbing is reason enough and it doesn't matter what others say or think ... you have to deal with your inner thoughts and emotions ... they don't. It can be devastating to be even remotely associated when tragedy strikes. Whether it involves the loss of a close loved one, a dear friend, an acquaintance; and whether it is an accident, a natural occurrence due to the progression of life; caused by the forces of nature or someone who has lost themselves and strikes out at others as has been done in the many recent campus shootings, or a criminal activity that involves violence. No matter what the issue if you are troubled or have anxiety due to events at school, work, home or even in the community At the least you may need to vent. Talking with friends, especially those who have had the same experience can be helpful even though you all may be frightened and upset. If this is the case then perhaps with the guidance of a counselor you could organize a support group. The important thing is to TALK to someone and get support... don't hold it in. And, in the event that you feel you cannot talk to a real person....then talk to yourself! Yeah, you read right...talk to yourself. Write everything down that you're feeling or just a simple declaration. Even this will help until you can come out and talk to another. It's fine if all you do is grab a crayon and a piece of paper and scribble out the words, "I am so pissed off! Right now!", or something like, "I can't believe this is happening!" ....it helps. And, it's one step closer to realizing your pain and then managing it. For the techies out there (and you know who you are....) creating a web blog, or even a video journal is strengthening and lifting. You can type out to your hearts content or cam capture what you're going through....It's the act of physically putting action into your own personal healing. Not the method. The method is the one that you are most comfortable with. And....for those of you who think it's sissy-fying to cry? It's not....it's good to cry whether you're female or male; it's good for you! Really! It is. A scientific fact is that a study has been done (and probably still is ongoing) that those who cry when they are sad or frustrated etc., are living longer. Those who bottle up their feelings and try to "be a man" or "act like an adult" get sick more often and have more serious health problems and higher levels of stress and stress indicators. So, do yourself a great big favor....and be human. Feel your emotions and know that you're normal (in the sense that anything these days is normal) and that it is healthy to validate your feelings and your emotions. We all feel and grieve in our own way...how we survive the pains and the stresses along with the joys is what makes us who we are...individually unique. ![]() ![]() One
important tool
that will help you
save and stay within your budget
is
the grocery list. This list is something that you sit down and create
'before' you go shopping. List everything that you will need for the
next few days, or for the week. When you go to the store stick to your
list!
Since the store is probably familiar make your list the way the store is laid out… remember how the store is entered and the direction first taken. If the produce is on the immediate right and that is where you begin then make the list beginning with produce…this avoids back tracking. However one thing to consider the time to be spent shopping. If lengthy then consider produce, cold items and frozen foods as the last items on the list to be placed in the cart. This way the time between refrigeration in the store, traveling home and getting them put away in the home refrigerator will be shorter. Your best bet is to create a list groceries and items that you need and then STICK to it! You can create your list based on the items you always use and have run out of or know that you will run out of in the next few days. Also, include items you will need to prepare your meals for the week so that you have the ingredients on hand when you begin preparations. Base your list on the way you travel through the store and select dry, canned and paper products first. Select cold foods, meats, frozen foods and produce last as these items probably need to be refrigerated as soon as possible. Check for expiration dates on canned foods, juices, dairy, meats, and any product. Shopping: When you go
grocery shopping try
to
stay away from the items that are
the middle shelves! Generally, the items located in the middle are
higher priced and easier to see...so more prone to being grabbed and
tossed into your shopping cart. If you see something you want or need,
look a little higher or a little lower to see if you can find the same
or like item at a much cheaper price!
Some stores have started to place the store brand or generic brands near the brand named items....in most (not all, but most) cases the store brand is just as good if not better! And often lower priced enough to make you at least think about trying it! And....NEVER go shopping when you are hungry!...You will end up buying according to what you're craving...or what sounds good at the moment because you are so hungry and all you can think of is getting full....before you know it, you'll be at the check out with a buggy full of items that are for the moment instead of for the week! In the hot summer months using a cooler to transport cold items from the store to home is a good idea. Even an inexpensive Styrofoam one will help keep the items old. Because you may have items that can spoil or thaw out quickly, take your groceries home before running other errands and put away items that need to be refrigerated or kept frozen first. |
