About Us

This endeavor began with the idea of putting together information for seven grandchildren that would help them when they began to go out on their own. The thought came about that if it could be helpful to them then it could also be helpful to others. Hopefully it is.

Being on your own can be daunting no matter how old you are. There will be times when you need to do something…. rent an apartment … cook … laundry … job interviews or whatever and no one is available to give you the tips or advice that you need at the moment…so that’s what the site is all about.

We’ve put our heads together and thought of all the things we wish someone had told us and some of the things they did tell us.

Some has been passed down through the years, from generation to generation. Some came from observing one of the seven adjusting to being on their own and the experiences they have gone through.

Some we just learned on our own by trial and error just as you will.

We have even gone out and talked with all age groups … 18 and above and asked them four questions:

What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?

What advice do you wish you had been given?

What is the worst advice anyone has ever given you? 

What advice were you given that you wish you had followed?

Some of the information you may already know…with the rush and hustle and bustle of life in general, maybe you forgot about it and the information will be a reminder. Perhaps you will think it’s stupid. That’s Okay. Maybe one day you will be in a situation and you remember the information and it wasn’t so stupid after all. Maybe you won’t.

Perhaps you have never even thought about it. What ever the case we’re hoping you find these pages useful. If you have some idea or information you would like to share we are looking forward to hearing from you. And remember if you aren’t too sure about the information you find within these pages … check it out … please … find another source … there are always options and thinking for yourself is the important thing.

You will find there are a lot of directives within all the information put forth here. “Don’t do this” and “do that”. We’re not trying to be bossy. It is just simple straight forward advice and you still have the option to do what ever you want.

One last thing we want to impart to you... This site is "Free" to use.  There is no membership required and are no hidden fees that you will be asked for.  Niether do we want 'donations'.  It's hard enough to be on your own, and many many times you will be hard pressed for money to live off of let alone pay out for help. 

It's usually when you're stuck in a situation that makes life it's hardest that you realize that you need some help, some hints, or advice.  As Moms, we could NOT fathom the thought of 'charging' our children for help when they finally asked for it.  And we wouldn't charge their friends either.
